As a professional astronomer, I’ve spent my life communicating about the universe –a rewarding job. But since joining the Slooh team in 2003, I’ve had an unprecedented opportunity to share the experiences of the cosmos with laypeople and enthusiasts alike. Because live, direct, astronomical explorations have never before been available to the public, except via balky backyard telescopes that few learn how to usefully employ – Slooh has been the first to open the eyes and ears of people around the world, at all science levels, to the joys of real-time space exploration. The pleasure of watching this enterprise evolve its programs has, for me, been topped only by the gratification of knowing we are inspiring a new generation of astronomers. These are exciting times.
