NASA has announced that it will start searching for clouds of dust in space with the powerful Large Binocular Telescope. Not just any dust, however: dust located in the habitable zones of stars. The reason for this is because they’re currently developing powerful telescopes capable of directly photographing and imaging exoplanets (planets orbiting in other solar systems).
By figuring out which lines of sight are clear, NASA will be prepared to launch straight into photographing exoplanets as soon as their technology is fully developed.
The search for Earth 2.0 and potential life is entering its next phase.
