As the Moon makes its monthly trip around the Earth, the surface seems to change, growing and shrinking with each night. We have come to know these lunar phases by names like the Crescent Moon, the Gibbous Moon, and the Half Moon.
Being so close and so visible, the Moon and its cosmic dance with the Earth has been the subject of study and debate since before recorded history. By the time the ancient Greeks got around to writing their observations down, they already knew all about the orbit of the Moon and its many phases. But it would take centuries before anyone would understand the many features covering its surface.
On December 2nd, the half moon returns to the night sky, and Slooh will host a live broadcast to discuss our closest celestial neighbor, and the way it has captivated humans through the ages.
