Enjoy Stargazing During Earth Hour 2015

Earth Hour is being held this Saturday March 28, 2015 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time in thousands of towns and cities around the world. The event was first held in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, and is now organized by the World Wildlife Fund to encourage awareness of energy conservation and issues related to greenhouse gas emissions. While not an event explicitly for astronomers and stargazers, hundreds of local astronomy clubs and societies organize events during Earth Hour to promote awareness of dark skies and the effects of light pollution on the natural environment, and to enjoy a little hands-on stargazing in urban centers when at least some city lights are turned off. Check for an event in your area!
